The passing of Susan Williams- Ellis, founder of the Portmeirion Group was sadly announced on 27th November 2007.
As originator of one of Stoke-on-Trent's most loved, and most successful, pottery companies, a great British designer and renowned artist, Susan Williams- Ellis will be greatly missed by her family, friends and colleagues.
Always at the forefront of contemporary design, Susan Williams Ellis was known for her originality both in design and manufacturing techniques which led to her enviable reputation for ceramic shape design and the creation of trend setting patterns that had popular, worldwide appeal - designs that are now seen as iconic statements of 1960's and '70's ceramic design.
Susan Williams-Ellis died at Portmeirion, Wales on 27th November 2007. She leaves her husband Euan Cooper-Willis, her sister Charlotte Wallace, three daughters, Anwyl, Sian, Menna and a son Robin, and eleven grand children.
