                    Notification of major interest in shares

                     Portmeirion Group plc (the "Company")


The Company received notification today from Mr Euan Cooper-Willis, that today
he sold 120,000 ordinary shares of 5p each in the Company ("Ordinary Shares") on
London Stock Exchange plc. Following this sale, Mr Cooper-Willis is interested
in 1,007,150 Ordinary Shares representing 10.29 per cent. of the Company's total
voting rights.
