Portmeirion are celebrating the 35th anniversary of Botanic Garden this year.
As part of the celebrations Portmeirion will be launching 3 commemorative pieces in special anniversary packaging. A flared vase, luncheon plate and teacup & saucer will join the collection for this year only, all featuring motifs taken from different periods since Botanic Garden's launch in 1972.
Susan Williams-Ellis, the founder of Portmeirion Potteries Ltd, developed the range in the early 1970's after admiring botanical prints in the book The Universal Herbal. The first modern tableware pattern to ever use a mix and match philosophy, with different motifs appearing on different items all within one collection, Botanic Garden set the trend for lifestyle design.
The collection features tableware, cookware, serving items, textiles, wooden and melamine items and giftware. Today new designs and products are still being created and Botanic Garden continues to be a success in the UK and as far a field as the USA, Canada and Japan.
